Atlassian Jira Cloud application

Jira Cloud is Atlassian's project and issue tracking tool. MIA connects to it to inventory the users of your organization and manage their access.

Authentication type and prerequisites

Authentication type — Basic authentication

Prerequisites

Be an administrator of the Jira site (Administer Jira permission), with an API token created from the Atlassian account used for the connection.

Connection steps

  1. Sign in to the Atlassian API tokens page with the administrator account dedicated to MIA.
  2. Click Create API token, name the token MIA, pick an expiration date, then confirm with Create.
  3. Copy the token immediately with Copy to clipboard: it is not displayed again and cannot be recovered.
  4. In MIA, open Applications → Add an application, search for Atlassian Jira Cloud, then enter:
    • Login: the email address of the Atlassian administrator account;
    • API Token: the token copied in the previous step;
    • Domain: your Jira site address, for example https://your-organization.atlassian.net.
  5. Click Connect. User synchronization starts automatically.

Token expiration

Atlassian API tokens expire after 365 days at most. Once expired, synchronization stops: generate a new token and update the connection in MIA.

Opening access

When opening access, MIA creates the Atlassian account and grants it the Jira Software product.
